What is the Royal Victorian Order?

The Queen made Kate a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order to mark her service to the crown following her and Prince William’s eighth wedding anniversary.

The special title can only be given at bequest of the Queen and is a mark of her growing respect for her granddaughter-in-law.

The special title means Kate has the letters GCVO after her name.

Other senior royals to have the title include Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and royal favourite Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
