Ingredients

  • 2x 300ml pots of whipping cream
  • 2x 397g tins of sweetened condensed milk
  • Any flavour you want – for this recipe we will use strawberry

These ingredients make around two litres of ice cream

Method

Pour both of the whipping cream pots and one and a half pots of condensed milk tins into a mixing bowl.

Whisk with an electric mixer (you can do it by hand but it may take longer) until stiff peaks form.

At this stage add your flavour, carefully folding in the flavour to your mixture.

For a strawberry flavour, mash fresh strawberries until they are squashed down, looking almost like jam.

You can also add food colouring to add to the fun if you want.

When the flavour is mixed in, pop the mixture into freezable tubs and then place into the freezer.

How long the ice cream is in the freezer depends on how soft you like your ice cream.

For soft-serve texture, freeze for four hours and give it a try. For more of a frozen treat, keep it in the freezer overnight.

There is no limit to the flavours you can add to this recipe – chocolate and peanut butter, mint, pistachio, blueberry – any flavour you wish.

However, if ice lollies are more your thing, here is an easy recipe which is perfect for kids.

How to make strawberry lemonade ice lollies

Ingredients

  • 375ml fresh lemon juice
  • 500ml wates
  • 95g sugar
  • 220g strawberries

You will also need ice lolly moulds

Method

First, collect the juice from the lemons and add to a pan with 500ml water and 95g sugar.

Then pop on a low heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Set aside.

Hull the strawberries – remove the stem – and pop in a blender to create a pulp.

Add the strawberry mixture to the lemon pan, stir and then run the whole thing through a very fine sieve.

This will help to collect all of the strawberry seeds and leftover pulp.

Pour the mixture into ice lolly moulds and freeze for at least eight hours.
