It’s Saturday morning, you’re potentially feeling a bit worse for wear, and you need sustenance.
A recipe doing the rounds on TikTok right now that combines eggs with pesto is just the thing.
Shared by Amy Wilichowski on the platform, pesto eggs are an easy breakfast you can customise to your tastes. They’re also packed with protein and healthy fats.
But – and most importantly – they’re delicious.
‘I swear your life will be changed,’ says Amy as she puts a tablespoon of green pesto into a frying pan.
Like the creator, if you’re making this you’d use your spoon to spread the sauce around the pan and let the oil in it heat up.
Jarred pesto works just fine, although you could make your own if it was a special breakfast. Just make sure it has that all-important oil.
From there, you cook your eggs like you normally would. Amy makes fried eggs, but you can opt for scrambled too if that takes your fancy.

The pesto eggs (or peggsto as people have been calling the dish online) can be eaten on toast, and you’re free to add whatever ingredients take your fancy.
In the original video, the eggs are paired with avocado, ricotta, honey, and red chilli flakes. Bacon – or its vegan and veggie alternatives – would also be delicious.
One commenter on Amy’s post suggested making green eggs and ham, which certainly makes the recipe child-friendly too.
Given the video has now been viewed over seven million times, we see this being the new TikTok egg sandwich.
