Bahlsen Ohne Gleichen Vollmilch

Sainsbury’s is recalling the above biscuit product as it contains a number of ingredients not listed on the label in English.

This would make the product dangerous for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to the ingredients.

The food product does not clearly state that it contains egg, hazelnuts, milk, soya, whey and wheat.

The Food Standards Agency website stated: “Bahlsen is recalling Bahlsen Ohne Gleichen Vollmilch because it contains egg, hazelnuts, milk, soya, wheat (gluten) and whey (a product derived from milk) which is not mentioned on the label.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or wheat (gluten), an allergy to nuts (hazelnut) and/or soya and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

The affected batches are 125 grams with the batch code of 0165. The items have the best before date of February 1 2021.

The food company Bahlsen has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations so they can also get in touch with members.

Point-of-sale notices have been issued which explain what shoppers should do if they have the products.

Anyone who has bought the biscuits and has an allergy can return to the store for a full refund if making an essential journey.

Customers can also contact Bahlsen at www.bahlsen.co.uk or phone 01923728500 to arrange a refund.

Sainsbury’s has also issued advice to customers about the recall of the items.

Its website said: “It has been brought to our attention that Bahlsen are recalling the product Bahlsen Ohne Gleichen Vollmilch 125g, Best Before Date 01.02.21 and batch code 0165 only, because there is no English on the pack.

“This means this product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to Hazelnut, Milk, Egg, Wheat and Soya.

“We are asking any customers who have purchased this product to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store when safe to do so, where they will receive a full refund.

“No other Bahlsen products have been affected by this issue, and they would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”

When an issue is spotted with a product, it will usually be recalled or withdrawn by retailers.

If it is recalled, customers are urged to check their cupboards and return the affected item.

Products can also be withdrawn, which means it is taken off shelves and no longer sold.
