Channel bosses confirm Home and Away's future amid axe rumours

The boss of Seven Network has poured scorn on rumours that Home and Away is going to be moved or axed, branding the speculation as utter drivel. A report was doing the rounds in Australia that falling ratings for the beloved soap was making channel bosses consider moving it out of its prime time slot, sparking fears for the show’s future.

However, Metro.co.uk can exclusively put your fears at rest – Home and Away is going nowhere as the channel has guaranteed their commitment to the show.

Angus Ross, Director of Network Programming, told us: ‘The hard working cast and crew on Home and Away produce the most-loved and most-watched Australian drama on television. I can assure fans that the story is utter drivel. There are absolutely no plans to move it from its 7PM timeslot on the main channel.’

This will come a relief to fans in Australia and the UK alike. The show remains extremely popular in Britain and our Soaps Newsletter, which you can sign up for free here, exclusively offered a teaser of what’s to come this summer.

It read: ‘It’s the summer of love in Summer Bay, with wedding bells around the corner for one lucky couple, but will they get their happily ever after? Elsewhere in the Bay, Leah and Justin decide to take the next step, but hit a bump in the road and Dean and Ziggy hit a new milestone in their relationship.

‘Elsewhere, in more sinister developments, Bella is facing extreme danger when she gets close to a stranger online. Can anyone help her before things get even more out of hand?’

With other major storylines planned for the rest of the year and beyond, those fearing they were going to miss out on their fix of Summer Bay action can rest assured that the show is in no danger of being axed.

Happy Friday!
