Aldi’s Specialbuys aisle is famous for boasting an array of hidden gems, with products available from a range of different categories, including homeware, children’s toys, clothes and more. Specialbuys land in Aldi stores and online every Thursday and Sunday.

However, this December, Specialbuys will be launched in stores on an additional day, the discounter has announced.

Shoppers will be able to get their hands on Specialbuy items three times a week, instead of twice.

To help customers shop for loved ones this Christmas, Aldi is introducing new Specialbuys to shelves on Tuesdays too.

The initiative was launched yesterday, December 7, but will continue throughout December.

This will give customers more time and opportunity to shop during the festive holiday.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “With the introduction of Tuesday Specialbuy dates this Christmas, we hope to give our customers even more opportunities to get their hands on the latest must-haves, with more ranges and products available for more days throughout December.

“As well as the new Tuesday on sale dates, Aldi’s Specialbuys will continue to be stocked on Thursdays and Sundays, and will revert back to these two days in January.”

But Ms Ashfield warned customers must be quick as Aldi’s Specialbuys are expected to sell out faster than ever this Christmas.

The managing director added: “Whilst this means there will be more on-sale dates for Specialbuys throughout December than ever before, shoppers must be quick because as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Aldi has also introduced another initiative to make shopping for Specialbuys easier for customers.

Last week, the German retailer announced the trial of a brand-new trolley in its store in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

The trolley is much bigger than normal trolleys and was made to accommodate shoppers buying large items from the Specialbuys aisle.

Measuring a whopping 1.6m, the trolley also has multiple key features.

Some of these include solid rubber wheels for extra control, a drop-down front panel to load heavier items more easily, and various hooks, clips, and straps.

These straps can help shoppers load items such as Aldi’s inflatable kayak onto their trolleys.

There is also a dedicated space for bottles of wine in the trolley.

What’s more, the huge trolleys have a detachable amber flashing warning light to ensure they are visible to other shoppers.

Additionally, a phone holder is available at the front of the trolleys so customers can look at their shopping lists more easily.

The trolley’s trial has come at a perfect time as customers gear up for Christmas.

Ms Ashfield commented on the move, saying: “We always hear of people popping in for a loaf of bread and coming out with a kayak or other impromptu Specialbuy purchases – so we thought we’d design a trolley to make this kind of shopping trip even easier.”
