Many of us might be swept into complete uncertainty as the coronavirus's effects are felt around the world, but at least one thing has remained constant: Jeopardy host Alex Trebek's dad-joke energy.
In these anxiety-inducing times, Trebek gave us a brief moment of levity when he recited lyrics from Lizzo's Grammy-winning song "Truth Hurts" on an episode of the show this week as a clue. Seriously — you've never known joy like hearing Alex Trebek's deadpanned voice reading the words "New man on the Minnesota Vikings, truth hurts, needed something more exciting, bom bom bi dom bi dum bum bay."
As a contestant answered correctly with "Who is Lizzo?", Trebek replied, "Yup — and I did it exactly like she does, didn't I? Yeah."
Lizzo hasn't yet responded to the clue, but we can only imagine she was pleased. Last year, when she was featured as a clue on the show, she made a celebratory Instagram post, writing, "BITCH BITCH THIS AINT A DRILL IM A @jeopardy QUESTION MAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I MADE IT I LOVE YOU ALEX TREBEK."
Lizzo and Alex Trebek? The crossover we didn't know we needed, but appreciate very much.
