An emotional music video for a Christmas charity single has left viewers ‘weeping’.
The five-minute clip captures the irreplaceable bond between an elderly man and his beloved dog, Bruno
It is accompanied by West Yorkshire singer Sam Clegg’s song, Don’t Let Me Go, was released online to raise money for charities supporting the elderly.
The video, which was described as an alternative John Lewis advert, has been viewed more than 1.6million times since it was posted on YouTube and racked up hundreds of comments from viewers praising the emotional message.

One posted: ‘I’m literally in tears this makes you realise how lucky we are to have such beautiful bonds with animals.’
Another added: ‘Awww my god this has me in tears right now. The love between him and his beautiful dog.’

The man presents his dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, with a festive collar and the pair head to the local pub and enjoy a meal for two.
However things take a turn for the worse when the man takes Bruno out for a walk on the Yorkshire moors and the dog darts off, getting lost in the snow.

Desperate to find Bruno, the man heads out to the Moors once more and find’s his dog’s festive collar buried under the snow. Overcome with emotion, he suffers what appears to be a heart attack and dies.

Explaining the tragic message, Sam wrote on YouTube: ‘This story is one of loss and sorrow which some viewers may find distressing, but with this video/campaign we hope to turn a negative into a positive by donating all of the proceeds made from the song to multiple charities that support the elderly in the UK.’
The musician explained he was inspired by hometown hero Sir Captain Tom Moore’s fundraising efforts.
He added: ‘With each £0.79p purchase it will help give support and companionship to the elderly who need it most in 2020. 100 per cent of the money will be donated to charity.’
