Another year, another virtual ATX TV Festival.
The bittersweet announcement on Thursday came with good news for the festival’s 10th anniversary: The annual TV event will be held for 10 days, from June 11-20, instead of its usual four.
The event will still include screenings, panels, roundtable discussions and more, although specific programming has not been announced yet. Organizers said they will announce the first wave of events in April.
Hours before the 2020 festival, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests, several panels were canceled including those for “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town,” “Justified” and “One Day at a Time.”
“Out of respect for all that is going on in the world, we are going to reschedule our reunion panel at the @atxfestival this weekend. It doesn’t feel appropriate to be being silly right now,” “Scrubs” star Zach Braff tweeted at the time.
“ATX TV continues to work closely with the partners and talent of previously postponed programming to determine the best fit for each reunion, series, and panel, whether that be a virtual showcase in 2021 or an in-person event once health & safety precautions allow,” the press release for the festival reads.
The festival, which normally takes place in Austin each year, also announced a new membership program, allowing fans access to events year-round.
Last year, co-creators Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson announced they would be raising funds “in support of” the organizations Color of Change, Direct Relief and the Actors Fund.
