  • Bisexual Scott previously dated Barrie’s daughter Saffron, 20, for several months

  • In April the couple announced they were expecting a baby girl via surrogate
  • Barrie and Scott are now already underway for a surrogate to have twins

One of Britain’s first gay fathers Barrie Drewitt-Barlow has revealed he and his fiancé Scott Hutchison are already planning more children weeks after welcoming their daughter Valentina via surrogate – and the couple are keen for twins.

Barrie, 50, who is originally from Manchester, is engaged to his bisexual assistant Scott, 25, who previously dated his 21-year-old daughter, Saffron, for several months.

The couple announced earlier this year they were expecting a baby together in October, but revealed little Valentina Willow Drewitt-Barlow arrived a month early at a private hospital in San Francisco on September 21.

Speaking to Closer magazine, father-of-seven Barrie said they can’t wait to add to their brood.

‘We’re already underway for a surrogate to have twins. But they aren’t pregnant – yet,’ he said.

Barrie and his former partner Tony, 55, hit headlines in 1999 when they became the first same sex couple to be formally registered as parents to twins Saffron and Aspen, born via surrogate.

Barrie already had a son from a previous relationship, and the couple, who are worth £40million and still live together in a £6million 10-bedroom mansion in Florida, went on to have Orlando, 17, and twins Jasper and Dallas, now 10.

The pair, who made their millions through ventures including a surrogacy agency and medical research firm, became civil partners in 2006 and married in 2014.

Barrie followed up the post by sharing pictures of himself posing with both Saffron and Scott, hailing his daughter ‘his everything’

But Barrie previously told how they ‘slid into a platonic relationship’ after Tony was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2006.

He said Scott, his PA of seven years, became a ‘shoulder to cry on’ when Tony, who is now in remission, was in hospital during treatment in 2018.

Last year, Barrie announced that Tony remained his ‘true love’ but they had ended their 32-year relationship. He proposed to Scott on a motor yacht near the Croatian island Hvar in August, while the pair were on holiday with Saffron – who now has a new boyfriend called Michael.

Having got Saffron’s blessing, Barrie had decorated the boat with candles and rose petals as well as laying out a bottle of champagne, and shared a gushing Instagram post afterwards with her and Scott, hailing his daughter ‘his everything’

Speaking about Valentina, Barrie said Tony was ‘excited’ about the new arrival, but it was ‘bittersweet’ because it underlined the fact their relationship was over.

Barrie admitted it was ‘strange’ when Saffron met his newborn for the first time, telling Closer: ‘It crossed my mind that this could have been her baby with Scott and my grandchild.

‘It was just not the right connection between her and Scott. They were always better as friends than anything else.

‘Saffron has been amazing – she is now my queen, and Valentina is our princess.’

The proud dad added that he and Scott are thrilled by their daughter’s appearance – having ‘scoured the planet looking for the best-looking egg donor we could find’.

Barrie told how they met 15 egg donors at the Beverly Wilshire, the California hotel from the film Pretty Woman, and ‘£77,000 later’, got the donor they wanted.

He added that he chose ‘Valentina’ for their daughter because it’s the namesake of his favourite drag queen from Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

Barrie and Scott had stocked up on £50,000 worth of baby clothes for their little girl, including Gucci and Stella McCartney outfits in a custom Louis Vuitton bag.

However, because Valentina arrived early, weighing just 5lbs, everything was too small – meaning Scott had to dash to a local supermarket to fetch baby grows.

Barrie added: ‘I told Valentina, “Don’t worry darling – it’ll be designer all the way from here on!”‘

The family all live under one roof, and Barrie said his ex will be Valentina’s ‘Uncle Tony and God-daddy’.

He added: ‘We’re happy and we want to co-parent our kids. If people don’t get it, that’s their problem, not ours. We’re a very modern family.’
