‘Bridgerton’ star Simone Ashley on wearing corsets: ‘I tore my shoulder’

Dearest readers, it has come to our attention that Simone Ashley is a DIY tattoo artist.

The “Bridgerton” star hilariously revealed that she inked her own ankle during the COVID-19 pandemic – after learning how to do so from an inmate’s YouTube videos.

“I was in LA over lockdown in 2020 and I did all the regular stuff, like making banana bread, tie-dying, all of that kind of stuff,” Ashley, 26, said during “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday.

“I thought it would be a good idea to get my own tattoo pen with the needle.”

The actress told Kimmel, 54, that she bought a kit online – “I didn’t even need an ID” – and began scouring the internet for tips.

After searching for “how to do a tattoo at home,” Ashley found some interesting results.

“I found this video and it was like, ‘Oh, I can use this deodorant stick,’ like as a chemical reaction on the transfer paper and all of the stuff. And then it started getting a bit deep and I was like, ‘Oh, this guy’s using some really interesting stuff,’” she recalled.

“Then I looked at the username and it was called ‘prisontattoo.com.’ I looked at his videos and was like, ‘Wow, there is an inmate making videos in prison.’”

Ashley thought it was “a fab idea” at the time and decided to try it out herself.

“I did it! And I followed his instructions,” she said, showing off her DIY sphinx ink. “I’ve tattooed myself and castmates that I’ve worked with before.”

Ashley stars as new leading lady Kate Sharma on Season 2 of “Bridgerton.”

In an interview with Glamour UK earlier this month, she admitted she felt a lot of discomfort in the period drama’s tight-fitting costume choices.

“I had a lot of pain with the corset. I think I tore my shoulder at one point!” she shared. “I realized when you wear the corset, you just don’t eat.”

Ashley went on to explain that wearing the corset “changed” her body.

“I had a smaller waist very momentarily,” she said. “Then the minute you stop wearing it, you’re just back to how your body is.”

Season 2 of “Bridgerton” is streaming now on Netflix.
