Cancer-stricken girl, 4, who was seen kissing her father through a window while in isolation breaks down in tears as they’re finally reunited after SEVEN weeks apart

  •  Mila Sneddon, from Falkirk, Scotland, is undergoing intensive chemotherapy
  • The four-year-old was diagnosed with leukaemia in November last year
  • Mila was living with her mother Lynda, 36, as father Scott, 50, had moved out
  •  But after seven weeks apart, the father and daughter have finally been reunited
  • Here’s how to help people impacted by Covid-19

A cancer-stricken four-year-old has finally had a cuddle with her father after seven long weeks apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mila Sneddon, from Falkirk, Scotland, stole the hearts of the nation when she was seen kissing her father Scott, 50, through a glass window at the start of the UK’s lockdown.

The little girl, whose immune system is already compromised, was staying at home with her mother, Lynda, 36, while her father stayed elsewhere to reduce the risk of Mila contacting the deadly coronavirus.

But now the pair have been reunited as Scott, who is a service engineer, has been furloughed meaning he was able to return home to be with his family yesterday – after two weeks of self-isolating to ensure he had no symptoms of the illness.

Mila, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in November last year, can be seen bounding towards her father before the duo share a tearful hug in an emotional video capturing their reunion.

But Mila wasn’t the only one who was ecstatic to see Scott as his wife Lynda admitted to needing her husband around since their little girl is due to start a new regime of steroids in two weeks.

Lynda said: ‘We didn’t tell Mila her daddy was coming back to stay, she thought he was just coming to visit through the window as normal but he surprised her and said I can come in.

‘She was a bit reserved to start with and cautious to go close but Scott said “you can give me a real hug”.

‘Mila leaped on him and wrapped her legs around him like a monkey holding on to him for a long time – she got very emotional and we both had a lump in our throats.

‘I have been doing the best I can to keep her entertained and she is missing the “real outside” so it is good that she now has her dad and sister Jodi, 16, to keep her entertained and distract her from everything going on.

‘She even told the dog off for playing with her dad for too long as she wants him all to herself!’

But Scott soon told his daughter that he could return home and quickly picked her up for a cuddle (pictured together)

Scott had originally moved into Lynda parent’s home on March 20 to keep his family safe but now it is in Mila’s ‘best interest’ for him to be at home as he isn’t working. Pictured, the pair together

Lynda said: ‘It has been a crazy few weeks and Mila is getting bored at home – she watches other kids play on their bikes outside and asks when will she be able to go to the “real outside”.

‘Scott has missed her so much and he hated not being present, he will be happy to take it in turns with me to assist Mila to hospital appointments.

‘She starts a new regime in two weeks which we anticipate she may need to stay in hospital if she becomes unwell during treatment where one of us will have to attend and support her.

‘It has been a difficult time for us all but we are happy Jodi and Scott are back where they belong.’

Lynda, whose original photo of Mila kissing her dad through a window went viral online, is sharing their story to highlight the importance of social distancing.
