STAYERS' HURDLE TRENDS:
- Look for horses who were first or second last time
- Six to eight is the age group to back
- A previous Festival win or place is a plus
- A Cheltenham win of any kind is important
- A victory earlier this season is a must
PAISLEY PARK can make it two Stayers’ Hurdles on the spin.
The first job is to cross out any horse that didn’t finish in the first two last time out. It’s a big field but out goes Bacardys, L’Ami Serge, Lisnagar Oscar, Ronald Pump, Tobefair, West Approach and Apple’s Jade.
Donna’s Diamond and Penhill are a little too old on the stats for a Stayers’ winner.
Next to go are horses that have yet to score at Cheltenham. Ask Dillon, Emitom and The Jam Man come up short on that score.
City Island is the next for the order of the red pen as he hasn’t managed to get his head in front this season.
So we are down to defending champion PAISLEY PARK and Summerville Boy. The latter looks a fair each-way bet but Emma Lavelle’s star looks on a different level both on form and the stats.
It would be the upset of the meeting if he gets beat.
