Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Cooked Up A Big Surprise For His Mom

Dwayne Johnson —who The Profile named the most likable person in the world—appears to be living up to the honor. As if to prove that he is genuinely that likable, the wrestler-turned-actor showed his mom some love over the weekend —by buying her a brand-new house—and he shared the special moment with his 320 million Instagram followers.

On Saturday, the Jumanji actor posted a few clips of his mother, Ata Johnson, as she took a stroll through the new house that he purchased for her as a gift. The sweet moment was, of course, soundtracked by Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

“Love you mom and surprise!” he began the lengthy Instagram caption. “When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy.”

“I surprised my mom and bought her a new home,” he explained. “Took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready, where she could walk thru her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise.”

The San Andreas star noted that he’s been “lucky enough to have bought her a few homes over the years,” but explained that “this one is special” because his maw told him that after years of traveling, she dreamed that her next home would be her last.

“Mom, there’s no greater feeling than to make you happy ~ welcome home,” his caption continued. “I always say, if you got a good mom then you got a shot at becoming a good, caring human being. Let’s all give our mamas a big grateful squeeze this weekend and make ‘em happy.”

In another clip, the family matriarch could be heard saying “oh my god” as she explored her custom-built “smackdown room,” filled with her “coolest Rock/DJ memorabilia” from her son’s career.

The Rock pulled out all the stops. He went as far as to design a room filled with pictures of their ancestors and his mother’s vintage ukuleles.

He captioned the moment: “Brought my mom into her new family room where we placed her vintage ukuleles up on the wall and I was able to unearth pictures of our ancestors that she hasn’t seen since she was a child growing up in Samoa.”
