On Wednesday’s episode of Emmerdale Tracy Metcalfe, played by Amy Walsh, discovered that she was pregnant.
However, fans were left perplexed by this revelation because they felt the way in which this was revealed to her was unrealistic.
This is because Tracy and her boyfriend Nate Robinson, played by Jurell Carter, had visited A&E because she had her wrist, but the nurse proceeded to ask for a urine sample before she conducted an X-ray.

Fans of the hit ITV show couldn't wrap their head around the sequence of events with one writing on Twitter: “"Did I miss something?
"Why did they give her a urine test when she went in with a broken wrist?"
While another added: "I've broke my wrist three times and never had to give a urine sample before going for an X-ray."

A third asked: “Since when do you get a urine test for a sprained wrist or broken wrist in A&E, only on #Emmerdale”.
A fourth twitter user joked: “A urine test for a fractured wrist that's taking the p**s #Emmerdale”
However, others on social media where quick to support the soap’s plot line, explaining that they had been given a urine sample before having an X-ray before.
One fan wrote: “Everytime I have been offered an x-ray, I have had to give a urine sample to check for pregnancy, it's just standard if you're in a relationship I thought”.
As it turns out it is commonplace to offer urine tests before an X-Ray and the NHS recommends them for women between the ages of 12 to 55.
This is due to the fact that there are high forms of radiation in certain types of X-ray that can actually harm the unborn child.

So there we have it, perhaps it wasn’t a plot line pitfall after all, but Tracy and Nate still left the hospital as perplexed as most of the viewers.
And as for other medical-based Emmerdale confusion, fans were also recently confused by Sarah Sugden, played by Katie Hill, and her lack of shielding from coronavirus, despite having had cancer and a heart transplant.
It remains to be seen if this was an oversight by the show's writers, or a costly mistake for the character.
