Fantasy football Premier League: 5 players we’ve found really frustrating this season

Fantasy football can be tricky business.

Sometimes, it can be really frustrating – especially when a player you’ve picked fails to deliver the goods… you know the ones we’re talking about.

So here’s some of the players that have really made us tear our hair out this season.

1 Raheem Sterling

It was all going so well for Sterling.

The Man City winger – who’s one of the most expensive players on the game – was on course to have his best season yet on Dream Team.

But a horrible run of form from the middle of January onward – which saw him pick up just ONE point between Game Week 16 and Game Week 26 – has seen plenty of managers ditch him out of frustration.

What happened?

2 Harry Kane

In recent years, Kane has become one of biggest and most popular players on Dream Team.

His goal-scoring record speaks for itself – with 136 goals in the Premier League in total – and he’s widely considered one of the best strikers in the world… that is, until he suffers another lengthy injury.

Kane’s injury woes are becoming almost as well known as his goal-scoring exploits, such is the frequency of his trips to the treatment room.

Much like last year, Kane was scoring goals (and points) for fun until he picked up a knock is Spurs’ New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton, and he’s been out of action ever-since.

3 Benjamin Mendy

Mendy is arguably one of the most frustrating players in the Premier League.

On his day, he’s an incredible full-back – defensively sound while adventurous in attack – and that makes him a very enticing option for fantasy football, as defenders that can rake in assists are worth their weight in gold.

That also makes him one of Dream Team’s more expensive defenders, but he’s infamously unreliable and, like Kane, spends far too much time on sidelines through injury.

Considering how often he’s in and out of the team’s treatment room, we often wonder if he’s really worth the risk?

4 Ryan Fraser

Only Eden Hazard provided more Premier League assists than Ryan Fraser last season, with the Belgian finishing one ahead with 15 to Fraser’s 14.

Plenty of us were keen to pick Fraser this season as well – certain that he’d be able to continue his form.

The Cherries have been hovering around the relegation places this term while Fraser has been in and out of the team – such has been his lack of form and in January, the Scot admitted he was affected by transfer rumours linking him with Arsenal in the summer.

5 Alexandre Lacazette

On top form, Lacazette can be one of the most formidable strikers in Europe, but this season he’s really struggled with inconsistency.

Much was expected of him this season after he won the club’s Player of the Year award at the end of 2018/19, but an ankle injury in September followed by long-periods without a goals has not made him popular among Dream Team connoisseurs.

What’s worse has been the brilliance of his teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the rise of youngster Gabriel Martinelli – making his lack of goals all the more obvious, and frustrating.
