Foodie’s 10 minute recipe for crispy take-away style chicken nuggets and strips

A home cook has impressed hungry foodies with their handmade version of takeaway style chicken nuggets and strips.

We can see why as the fake-away looks crispy and delicious – and you can make sure they’re made from proper chicken meat.

Posting on Reddit, in the r/Food forum, the keen cook posted a scrummy looking platter of nuggets, chicken strips and chips.

On the side they had their sauces of choice, from American brand Chick-Fil-A, and a handmade dip.

They captioned the photo: “Chicken Nuggets and Strips.”

Luckily, for us, the meal only takes about 10 minutes to put together meaning it’s quick and cheap.

Perfect for a weekday night. The home cook shared the recipe after over 2000 fans begged him to do so.

Chicken Nuggets and Strips

Ingredients:

  • Chicken – sliced into small bite-size pieces (Breast or Tenderloin)

For the wet batter

  • Cup of flour
  • Cup of milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • One tablespoon of garlic powder

For the dry batter

  • Cup of flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • One tablespoon of garlic powder

Method:

  1. Mix up the wet batter in a bowl and the dry batter in a separate bowl.
  2. Take the chicken and coat it in the wet batter, then into the dry making sure to pat the dry into the chicken well.
  3. Deep fry on 350 for 3-5 minutes, should be slightly golden brown.
  4. Dry off on some paper towel.
  5. Salt immediately after getting out of the oil.

If you like to spice up your chicken then you can add some additional flavours to the wet or dry batter. We like paprika, cayenne pepper, cajun seasoning, white pepper and dried rosemary.

The foodie also made a dip from half a cup of mayonnaise, a quarter cup of ketchup, a teaspoon of garlic, pepper, creole seasoning and half a teaspoon or Worcestershire sauce.

They also wrote: “While I was deep-frying the chicken I just air fried the fries. I don't even think I used any spray oil. Air fryer is a godsend of an appliance.”

Drooling fans went wild for the recipe in the comments.
