Roast potato fans have shared their hacks to achieve their most perfectly cooked spuds every time.

The cooking tips came as one food fan shared a snap of their roast tatties on Facebook group Rate My Plate.

The social media user, known as Echo, uploaded a photo of six of his very crispy roast potatoes for all to judge.

He simply captioned the post: "Roast Spuds by Echo C."

Many Facebook users were left drooling over his potatoes, as the post racked up more than 6,800 likes and 1,000 comments.

One exclaimed: "They are the best roast potatoes I've ever seen…," as another branded them "perfect".

It also encouraged some foodies to give their tips on how to achieve the tastiest roast spuds possible.

One advised: "Boiled then flicked then into a pan of hot fat, just how Deliah says to do it."

While another added: "I always prefer to use a King Edward potato over a Maris Piper in smoking hot animal fat. Beef dripping's very good. Some proper sea salt helps."

A third chimed in: "Sea salt, black pepper and some proper thick gravy for dipping!"

Despite this, there were some who felt Echo C's spuds were overcooked.

One wrote: "I would like to put myself out there as a roast potato connoisseur. As such I feel qualified to comment on this side dish. The ones on the left are absolutely perfect and 10/10 but the ones on the right slightly overcooked."

As another moaned: "I wish people wouldn't mess about with he colour of their food. It doesn't make it look better. This looks like it has spent a month under a sun bed!"

A third wrote: "Aunt Bessie is not impressed with trying to cook them on a barbecue!"

We guess you can't please everyone.
