Furniture company HOS Home loved by celebs leaves hundreds of customers waiting for deliveries and refunds

FURNITURE company HOS Home has left hundreds of customers waiting for deliveries and chasing refunds.

The business, originally known as House of Sparkles, was set-up by interior designer Layla Chapman, 35, and her husband Dan, 33, and has a string of celeb clients.

But hundreds of unhappy customers have been chasing the firm for refunds after not receiving deliveries – with some owed thousands of pounds.

Heather Smart, 51, from Glasgow paid £360 in July for a dining table, which hasn't arrived leaving her stressed and out of pocket.

The chef, cleaner and barmaid told The Sun: "I'm so angry. I thought I would have a new dining table for Christmas time and now I'm not and I've paid for it.

"I suffered a heart attack while this has been going on so it's put a lot of extra stress on me.

"I'm worried about money right now."

While Sharonlee Wood, 50, from Wimbledon was left chasing £900, as her orders for a mirror, lamp, wine rack and coffee table ordered in August never arrived.

She told The Sun: "They weren't fulfilling orders but they kept taking more.

"We work hard for our money and they have a complete disregard for their customers.

"They've stopped answering the phones, emails etc."

Sharonlee also set up a Facebook group called House of Sparkles Angry Customers which has over 250 member. She was able to get a refund after applying via PayPal when her goods did not turn up.

But many other customers have been left waiting for cash.

The Wokingham-based firm, which is loved by celebs such as Chloe Ferry, Scarlett Moffatt and Laura Anderson, today announced plans to wind-up the business.

This afternoon HOS Home posted a statement on their website, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE A CUSTOMER

IF you’re a customer and you’re still waiting for a refund or your items haven’t arrived then here’s what you should do.

  • If you paid via credit card then you need to contact your card firm and ask for a Section 75 refund. This only applies to purchases over £100 and under £30,000.
  • If you paid via debit card then you need to contact your bank and ask for Chargeback. They should be able to help with a refund.
  • If you paid via PayPal but don't have an account then you need to apply via either Section 75 and Chargeback.
  • If you paid via PayPal and you have an account then you can apply via them for a refund.
  • If you paid via DivideBuy then they should be contacting customers – but you can email them via [email protected] – to apply for a refund.

It said: "We are extremely sorry to inform you that HOS Home have taken the incredibly difficult decision to cease trading, and have filed a notice of intent to appoint an administrator while the sale of the companies assets are sought.

"No new orders are being accepted and all fulfilment of outstanding orders have been suspended during this period.

"The decision to file a notice of intention to appoint an administrator has not been taken lightly but a chain of events which occurred over a very short time period meant we were left with no other option and it was the only responsible course of action to take."

It added that the "vast majority" of customers had been given refunds and advised customers what to do if they are still waiting.

The Sun has contacted HOS Home for a comment.

Earlier this week Mothercare officially announced it is going in administration, closing 79 UK shops.
