Jennifer Lopez's '90s-Inspired Space Buns Are Taking Me Allll the Way Back My Spice Girls Days

Jennifer Lopez pretty much can rock whatever beauty look she wants and get away with it. Booty-length hair extensions? Yep, she’s done it. A sleek, asymmetrical bob with blonde, highlights face framing money pieces? Uhhh, yeah, that was a look she did back in 2019. But now, Miss Jenny from the block is channeling her inner spice girl with a style plucked straight from the ’90s—space buns, made super popular by former spice girl Scary Spice!

J.Lo’s hairstylist—the Kardashian-approved Chris Appleton—took to Instagram to show off his magical creation online, and to be honest…it’s literal perfection. Instead of the usual double bun look made by parting the hair entirely down the middle, Chris decided to do a modern take on the hairstyle by leaving half of J.Lo’s hair out to cascade down the sides of her face, and added a cute lil flips at the ends. “Spicy🌶 @jlo,” he captioned the pick, giving a subtle nod to the original double bun queen, Mel B.

Of course, this isn’t first time J.Lo has worn her hair in space buns. Last week, she shared a throwback video to her Instagram page of her performing her 2000 hit single “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” in which she rocked the double buns with a simple, glowy makeup look, a silver chainmail top, and matching hoop earrings.

Not sure what J.Lo is working on at the moment that prompted this show stopping glam, but one thing’s for certain—she’s as into nostalgia as the rest of us are.
