Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock became best friends on the set of their 1994 film, Speed. The reason their chemistry is so fiery in the movie is because the two developed feelings for each other off-screen as well. But ever the gentleman, Reeves kept his feelings for his co-star bottled up in order to remain professional.

Bullock and Reeves are both known for keeping their personal lives out of the spotlight. This is especially true when it comes to their romantic lives, which makes the media all the more intrigued. But despite the incredible spark between Bullock and Reeves, the two never decided to officially date.
Still, though, when Reeves was asked during a Reddit AMA who his most famous friend is, he quickly mentioned Bullock as his first choice. “The biggest movie star I’m friends with would be… uh… Sandra Bullock!” said Reeves. “Yeah, through the years, we kinda get together, have dinner, catch up, see how it’s going.”

Both Speed actors appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show separately to discuss their feelings for each other. While interviewing Bullock, she admitted to having difficulty working with Reeves because she had such a big crush on him.
“I think about how sweet Keanu Reeves was, and how handsome he was,” Bullock said. She continues, saying it was challenging getting through a scene with the John Wick actor because she would always get giddy and start giggling around him.
And when Reeves appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show, he gushed about his co-star as well.
“She obviously didn’t know that I had a crush on her, either,” he said.
And when the talk show host asked why they never dated, Reeves said that it was in order to keep things professional. “We were working,” he said.
“It was nice to go to work,” he continued, referring to the fact that he got to see Bullock.
“She’s such a wonderful person,” he said of his co-star, according to the actor’s unauthorized biography. ‘I can’t explain why Sandra and I have chemistry. We just do, and I’m glad.”
“There’s a sense of ease for me working with Keanu,” Bullock explained. “It’s an ease for me to look at him in situations where I’m just not comfortable with myself. I can look him in the eye and feel that I have a place there.”
Will there ever be a ‘Speed’ reunion?
According to Yahoo!, Bullock joked about a potential Speed reunion.
“Maybe [when we’re] 67, 69 years old,” she joked. “We’ll be old and in the bus where they have that lift for the older people,” laughs Bullock. “We will be be an old married couple. We’ll have the walker, and it will be about how we can get to the old people’s homes before curfew. So, that will be the [new] Speed. It will be a slow film, but a play on the word ‘speed.’”
