Despite winning many accolades including Inside Soap Awards and National Television Awards, she shockingly left the soap in 2010 for four years.
This was a blow to BBC producers who were keen to keep the star due to her immense popularity.
At the time she stated on Sky News: "I'll miss Stacey and everyone in Albert Square very much but the time has come to try something different."
During that period she starred in an array of successful TV shows including the critically acclaimed BBC’s Our Girl, where she played a young woman who joined the British Army after having personal problems in her life.

"I didn’t know what I wanted to do. At one point, I wanted to make furniture! I’m one of these people who does courses in everything.
“I’ve got thousands of qualifications and don’t use any of them. I just wanted to live a normal life. I was just lucky to work. I had fun and I made a variety of different things. I do feel like I achieved something."
According to the Daily Star it was revealed that the brunette beauty earned between £150,000 to £190,000; in the same pay bracket as Gillian Taylforth who plays Kathy Beale.
Although this is a huge yearly salary it is not as much as Danny Dyer, who was reportedly making £400,000 a year, or Steve McFadden, who plays boozer Phil Mitchell and rakes in £310,000.
Due to her wage on EastEnders and prolific TV roles, Celebrity Net Worth has calculated that Lacey has a net worth of nearly £4,000,000.
