Madonna is proving she’s still the original Material Girl with a hair transformation that wouldn’t look out of place in one of her ‘80s music videos. The theme of the makeover is pink – and it suits the singer to a tee.
Posting Instagram Story snaps this week, Madonna shows off her freshly-coloured bubblegum pink hair. Since she celebrated her 64th birthday just last week, we wonder if she’s given herself a bit of a makeover in celebration of it. We also think it looks like she’s dyed her natural hair, and not turned to a wig, as there are some blonde tones visible beneath the pastel wash.
This isn’t Madonna’s first dabble with pink hair dye. Last week, the singer posted images of herself on the cover of Paper magazine where she posed with a bright pink bob. The shade and cut didn’t last long on her grid as she was back to her long blonde curls just a day later.
Madonna isn’t the first celeb to go to the pink side this summer. Love Island’s Laura Whitmore surprised viewers recently when she appeared on the ITV show with pastel pink hair instead of her usual honey blonde shade. She later told her fans that she achieved the wash-out look with Davines Alchemic Creative Conditioner in Pink.
Shortly before Laura’s transformation, long-time brunette Megan Fox gave pink hair a try for herself. Stepping out with fiancé Machine Gun Kelly in June for the premiere of his Hulu Documentary Life In Pink, the 36 year old really nailed the brief in an entirely pink outfit – all the way down to her pedicure.
Of course, it’s often the case that A-listers will change up their look for one night only with the help of a wig. However, at the time, eagle eyes couldn't help but notice the darker roots coming through, suggesting that Meg may well have taken the plunge for reals. Sadly she was back to her glossy raven colour just days later, but we live in hope that the pink will make a return – bridal blush, anyone?
