McDonald’s is giving out free McMuffins today – here’s how to claim

Want to treat yourself this morning?

McDonald’s is giving out free McMuffins to customers that visit today (January 26).

From 5am until 11am, you can claim the freebie via the fast food giant’s app.

As the breakfast item typically retails for for £2.79, you’ll save more than two quid by cashing in on the promotion.

The McMuffin offer is bound to be very popular, so hopefully it runs without any hiccups.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s customers ran into trouble when trying to claim freebies using the app.

  • Customers wowed by how posh McDonald's is in Italy – it even serves macaroons

  • KFC taste testers try new vegan burger – but would they make the swap?

On Twitter, punters were furious when their apps crashed.

This is likely to be because so many people were trying to claim the freebie at once.

One hangry customer tweeted: "Left with a wasteful trip to McDonald's this morning after the app had a meltdown trying to order my Free McMuffin.

“Looks like others in store were having issues too.”

Another said: “@McDonaldsUK your broken app has meant that we have been unable to claim our free McMuffin today as staff can’t honour it – doesn’t seem very fair to me.”

And a third added: "Shouldn't offer a free McMuffin if the app can't f**king handle.

"Travelled all the way to McDonald's to be told I can't have one because your app wouldn't work. What a joke."

Here’s hoping that punters don’t experience similar problems today.

If you do run into difficulties, it may be worth explaining the situation to McDonald’s cashiers.

Previously, customers were still able to claim their freebie by asking nicely.
