Mum, 20, left ‘anxious and scared’ after thug glasses her in street on night out

A young mum was left with a horrific head wound and covered in blood after being attacked with a glass bottle by a thug in the street.

Distraught Yavana Dix was photographed crying with blood covering her face and her coat after the late night assault near her home in Sandown, Isle of Wight.

Her family had fashioned a makeshift bandage to dress the wound as they waited for her to be taken to hospital.

The 20-year-old's brother Sean posted the heart-rending image on social media as police launched a manhunt to find his sister's male assailant.

Her mum Denise Robinson said: "She's very anxious and scared. She's not eating, she's not sleeping. She needs him caught.

Yavana, a carer for people with disabilities who has a two-year-old son, was attacked in the early hours of Friday morning.

She was taken to a nearby house where her family tried to stem the bleeding before she was then taken to the island's St Mary's hospital where she was given six stitches above her eye.

As well as the cut, she also suffered bruising in the vicious assault.

Yavana, who is now back home, said the perpetrator was known to her, although the police have yet to make an arrest.

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson appealed for the public's help catching the suspected attacker.

"I can confirm we are investigating after a woman in her 20s suffered a head injury following an assault in Lake Hill, Sandown, in the early hours of December 20," he said.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44190456012.
