Royal fans are demanding that Prince Edward be given ‘more engagements’ after a video was shared online of the royal flamboyantly cutting into a cake during an engagement.  

The Earl of Wessex, 55, was visiting the Lakeland Community Care Centre in Northern Ireland when he was asked to cut a special 25th anniversary cake. 

Father-of-two Edward dramatically jabbed the knife in the air above the cake several times before plunging it in and flamboyantly jolting it through the sponge.   

The Royal Family’s official Twitter account shared a clip of the moment, as the Queen’s youngest son appeared to take sheer delight in the action, brandishing the knife before slicing into the cake with vigor.

Social media users hailed the move as ‘brilliant’, with one saying: ‘He is amazing and he needs more engagements.’

The royal is currently on a two-day visit to Northern Ireland, which started in County Fermanagh yesterday. 

He met primary schoolchildren from County Cavan at Florence Court before meeting staff and volunteers from conservation charity, the National Trust. 

He then went on to Lakeland Community Care Centre, where he joined in celebrations of their 25th anniversary. 

The short clip quickly wracked up thousands of likes on Twitter viral after the Royal Family shared the video on their official account.

Alongside the clip, they wrote: ‘It was a happy moment for members of the local community and volunteers at Lakeland Community Care Centre, as The Earl of Wessex joined them in celebrating their 25th anniversary!’

Lakeland Community Care Centre provides a variety of care for rural Fermanagh residents and offers space for social and sport activities.

The Earl of Wessex was given a tour of the community garden and met with members of the ‘men’s shed’. 

The shed provides a space for men to chat and take part in practical activities; in the hope of reducing loneliness and isolation.  

Social media users called the moment ‘hilarious’ online, with one writing: ‘I love the enthusiasm Prince Edward brings to his duties’
