Nene Leakes reached a boiling point at The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 12 reunion. The Glee alum was so fed up with most of the cast coming at her during the virtual reunion that she walked off. Following the second part of the reunion airing on Bravo, Leakes took to Instagram to explain her decision of leaving.
Why is Nene Leakes upset?
Leakes blasted the show after she felt the attacks were only against her and not the rest of the cast.
“It only felt right to personally REMOVE MYSELF from the reunion. So much had happened this season!,” Leakes started her post saying.
Leakes was not happy that they kept bringing up stuff about her and not “The Cookie Lady, Marc [Daly] and Kenya [Moore’s] fake marriage, Dennis accusations, Snake-gate, and much more.”
The “tastiest peach” also called out the show for bringing up situations that happened after season 12 wrapped. There was a moment at the reunion where they talk about drama with Wendy Williams, which happened during the quarantine. The incident didn’t occur on the show itself but it was still brought up and discussed at the reunion.
Leakes questioned why production didn’t bring up the shooting that happened at the restaurant owned by Kandi Burruss.
“Interviews I’ve done since we wrapped the show has nothing to do with the show,” Leakes added. “After deciding that apologizing for certain things was only right, that wasn’t genuine enough. Starting over with lil’ sis Porsha [Williams] was made fun of.
“…here they go bringing someone on the reunion that I was personally told by executives wasn’t allowed on set anymore,” Leakes said referring to Yovanna Momplaisir. “All this and so much more felt like the rules only applied to me and that I was being held to a different standard than others, but you continue to be the judge.”
What happened between Nene Leakes and Yovanna Momplaisir?
Leakes was involved with “Snake-gate” during RHOA Season 12. The drama around this was that Leakes’ friend Momplaisir allegedly had a recording of Cynthia Bailey talking bad about the former. It turns out that Momplaisir didn’t have audio and she made it all up.
The Fashion Police alum had enough of the reunion when they didn’t bring any of the other individuals involved in other encounters. Yet, they decided to invite Momplaisir to blast Leakes.
“They didn’t decide to bring the Cookie Lady, they didn’t have Marc Daly to bring, they didn’t have Porsha’s fiance, Dennis, to bring. All they had was to focus on Nene Leakes,” Leakes told ET.
Leakes thinks that Momplaisir only attended the virtual reunion to get airtime as she wants to be in the limelight.
“She’s thirsty, honey,” Leakes added. “She ain’t never been on TV. She wanted to be on here by any means necessary. So, all they had to do was pick up the phone and say, ‘A camera will be shining.’ and she was like, ‘Oh my god! Well, let me get my hair and makeup on and come and show up.’ So, she shows up and they got her where she can turn against me. So, I guess they thought it was a good idea.”
However, Leakes doesn’t think Momplaisir will ever be offered a peach on the show and be made a full-time housewife.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta continues Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
