Royal Fans Vote For Their Favorite Royal Wedding Dress

Royal weddings are watched by millions of people around the globe, who tune in for many reasons. Some want to see all the celebrity guests, others want to watch what resembles a real-life fairy tale, but many fans tune in to to see what the bride is wearing.

In 2018, fans were treated to two royal weddings as brides Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie stunned in their gowns but which did fans like better and how did they compare to the dresses worn by other royals like Princess Diana and Kate Middleton? Check out the results from two different polls that yielded the same results and see if you agree with which gown was chosen as the hands-down fan favorite.

Meghan Markle’s dress

Following Eugenie’s nuptials, Just Jared polled fans on which wedding dress they liked the best out of hers, the Duchess of Sussex‘s or the Duchess of Cambridge‘s.

Markle’s gown garnered a ton of reactions when she and Prince Harry tied the knot on May 19, 2018. The Givenchy number she wore by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller was made of silk and featured a boat neckline. It was paired with a 16-foot long veil which took 500 hours to embroider.

The former Suits star’s dress though came in last out of the three with 17%, receiving just over 2,000 of the more than 11,700 votes.

Princess Eugenie’s dress

For her wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, 2018, Princess Eugenie walked down the aisle in a gown by Peter Pilotto.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson‘s daughter decided not to wear a veil as the back of her dress made a bold statement. The gown had a low-back which Eugenie chose in order to reveal the scars she got from scoliosis surgery she had when she was 12 years old.

“I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars,” the princess said.

Eugenie’s dress pulled in more than 2,700 votes for 23%, taking second place.

Kate Middleton’s dress

But the dress that had the most votes in that poll was none other than Kate Middleton’s.

On her wedding day, Prince William’s wife donned a beautiful Alexander McQueen number by Sarah Burton which reportedly cost around $400,000 to create. The gown featured long lace sleeves that were made to pay homage to other royal brides.

In the years since the 2011 royal wedding, many women around the world have attempted to duplicate Middleton’s look for their big day.

The duchess’ dress took the No. 1 spot and was the clear winner with fans for the Just Jared poll with a whopping 59% and nearly 7,000 votes.

Princess Diana’s dress

A more recent poll in 2019, conducted by The Express, asked fans to vote for their favorite royal wedding gown as well. This poll though included Middleton’s late mother-in-law’s dress instead of Princess Eugenie’s.

Middleton’s dress though still reigned supreme in that poll too with 64% of the votes. Diana’s iconic wedding dress, designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, followed with 23% of the votes while Markle’s came in third with 13%.
