Simple and affordable cleaning hack transforms oven in 10 minutes

Cleaning the oven is one of the household chores that we dread.

There are so many nooks and crannies to get to – and it can feel impossible to budge burnt food and grease stains.

So when Facebook users started raving about a way to overcome this problem, we were over the moon.

On the Mums Who Clean page, a woman revealed how she used an Aldi dishwasher tablet to remove dirt from her cooker.

Before and after snaps showed how she was able to scrub away at the unpleasant-looking residue – and everything was sparkling when she was done.

So will the cleaning hack work for us too?

As my own oven is clean thanks to a Mrs Hinch trick, I tracked down another cooker that was in need of some TLC.

The kitchen appliance was covered in brown marks – and taking a look at the own-brand Sainsbury’s tablet in my hand, I wasn't convinced I’d be able to budge them.

Despite my concerns, I got to work with the dishwasher product.

It was pretty easy to scratch off non-stubborn stains, but it didn’t take long for the tablet to get mucky.

I rinsed off any residue that collected on the item in the sink, before going back to wipe more grease.

Surprisingly, the dishwasher tablet did quite a good job.

Before and after snaps show how around 75-80% of the dirt was lifted from the oven.

I used a cloth to wipe any grime that was left behind – and these are the finished results.

As you can see, the oven isn’t completely sparkling.

But having said this, we can’t complain considering dishwasher tablets cost pennies.

The cleaning hack was also very speedy, taking around 15 minutes to complete.
