Tesco's little-known eBay outlet store offers up to 57% savings on toys, homeware and electricals

TESCO shoppers can save up to 57% on toys, homeware and tech by shopping from the supermarket's eBay outlet store.

The little-known shop offers bargains on brand-new and refurbished items, which could come in handy in time for Christmas.

The supermarket has been offering discounted goods in the store since 2018, when it flogged leftover stock from the Tesco Direct website, which shut in July 2018.

The website, which tried to compete with Amazon, sold everything from tech, mobiles, electricals, toys and clothes to homeware.

The eBay shop is now constantly rolling out new offers, which aren't available in Tesco stores, and they could save you serious cash.

For example, Tesco is selling a Hauck Babypark-branded playpen for £89.50, which is in a new condition although the packaging is slightly damaged.

How to get a good outlet deal

WE’VE found discounts of up to 57% on Tesco’s eBay store, here’s our top tips for shopping from outlet stores.

  • Buy what you need. Never, ever buy something just because it’s a good deal. Only spend money if it’s something you were already going to buy.
  • Is it a good discount? Check the item isn’t being sold on the retailer's website – and elsewhere –  for the same amount or less. Shops aren’t trying to deceive you but mistakes happen.
  • Is it new? Check the “condition” part of the eBay listing. It should say “new with tags”, if it doesn’t it may have been used before. This is fine but you should pay even less.
  • Know your rights. Each shop will have a different returns, delivery and rights policy. Check before you buy.

In comparison, BabyMonitorsDirect charges £129.99 for the same item, meaning you'll save £40.49 (31%) by shopping on eBay.

Tesco shoppers can also get up to 57% off smartphones, of which some have been refurbished by the seller.

Refurbished items are usually products which have been returned by customers.

Many are in perfect working order, whereas others may have been repaired before they are repackaged for resale.

For example, a 16GB smartphone by brand Imo sets you back just £42.50 on Tesco's eBay store, down from £99.50 – saving you £57 (57%).

Or you can get a refurbished Microsoft Xbox One S 2TB Console for £299.50, compared to Amazon's price tag of £355 – saving you £55.50 (16%).

If you're keen to shop, keep in mind the offers are only available as long as stocks last so it's best to be quick.

Also make sure you double-check the postage costs, which vary depending on what you buy.

Tesco isn't the only retailer to sell stock on eBay – shoppers can also find items from Next, M&S and Currys PC World at sweet discounts.

Plus, big fashion retailers including New Look, Dorothy Perkins and L.K. Bennett are selling leftover stock on eBay for up to 86% off.

The discounts come as Burberry caused outrage in 2018 by burning £28million of unsold items.
