The Prada bolo tie is already this year’s viral celebrity accessory

2020 already has a viral menswear trend: the bolo tie.

However, the cowboy-inspired accessory that’s been seen on Nick Jonas, Quavo, Dylan Sprouse and more isn’t your average yeehaw couture; Prada has infused streetwear swag into the unconventional neckwear by adding its logo front and center.

Jonas was the first to sport the headline-making look at the Golden Globes earlier this month, where stylist Avo Yermagyan paired it with a double-breasted suit made out of black technical silk satin and a ruffled powder blue shirt. He accessorized with a one-of-a-kind $1 million Bulgari watch covered in 50 carats of diamonds.

After his splashy debut, other celebs followed suit at Sunday’s Prada show in Milan during Pitti Uomo; Quavo and Dylan Sprouse both sat in the front row wearing the necklace. However, Sprouse — who attended with girlfriend Barbara Palvin — chose a white bolo tie to complement his khaki pants and button-down shirt.

“The bolo is back baby,” the former Disney star captioned a photo of himself at the show.

Skateboarder Evan Mock and Spanish blogger Pelayo Díaz were also spotted wearing the piece, while Frank Ocean models the bolo tie in his new campaign for the Italian brand.

The accessory retails for $240 in select boutiques and online.

Much like Timothée Chalamet’s viral Louis Vuitton harness — which Virgil Abloh insisted was actually a “bib” — a Prada representative told Page Six Style that the Southwestern necklace is a “new type of accessory … a string tie characterized by the sliding triangle element that adjusts its length.”

It’s only a matter of time before more men who have been embracing country looks — like Diplo, Post Malone and Lil Nas X — upgrade their ties, too.
