The Spice Girls are taking the stage once again and officially kicked off their Reunion Tour.
Though many fans were expecting to live their best lives as they experienced the comeback of one of the world’s most beloved girl groups, some were left extremely disappointed.
By the end of the group’s first stadium show in Dublin, Ireland, attendees had multiple complaints and felt like the concert did not live up to their expectations.
The show had difficulty with the sound
On May 24, fans crowded into the Croke Park venue in Ireland where they planned to relive the 90’s with everyone’s favorite girl group, The Spice Girls.
What was expected to be a night many would never forget, turned into a night with a ton of sound issues.
Throughout the show, many fans complained that the Spice Girls vocals were very hard to hear.
Many took to Twitter to share their disappointment and let The Spice Girls know that they couldn’t even enjoy the show because of the lack of sound.
“There’s something wrong when the crowd at @spicegirls concert are all sitting down because no one has a clue what song is on because the sound really is THAT bad,” one fan wrote along with a video from the concert.
Another concertgoer shared that even though the sound was terrible, The Spice Girls still gave an electrifying performance.
“The #spicegirls put on a fabulous show tonight. But am really surprised that nobody seems to be talking about how poor the sound was. Could hardly make out the words they were saying at times. Was worst sound I’ve ever heard at a concert,” the fan wrote.
Mel B. addressed the multiple complaints
Since Twitter began flooding with complaints surrounding The Spice Girls’ Dublin show, Mel B., aka Scary Spice, took to her Instagram Stories to address the issue.
The singer wanted fans to know that even though the sound was not up to par during their first show, it will be much better for all of their future shows.
“Hey guys. Thank you for attending our show tonight in Dublin,” she shared in a now-deleted video. “We will see you in Cardiff and hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better…Pfft.”
Mel Brown was the only one in the group to comment on the situation. The rest of The Spice Girls simply thanked fans for attending first their concert and shared their excitement for upcoming shows.
“Wow! Words cannot describe how it felt to be back on stage. I love you all so much, more than ever!!! Thank you so much to our incredible team, their talent, dedication and relentless hard work that have made this show this best thing I have ever been a part of. Thank you to our wonderful fans, without you we never could have done this, we are eternally grateful for your endless support. Can’t wait to do it all over again and again!!!! Watch out Cardiff we’re coming for you,” Melanie “Mel C.” Chisolm wrote on Instagram.
The Spice Girls are set to play next at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on May 27.
Hopefully the sound was only a one time issue and all future shows will exceed concertgoers expectations.
