Three mobile goes down leaving hundreds of customers unable to make or receive calls

THREE mobile is down leaving customers unable to make or receive calls.

According to Downdetector the issue is affecting hundreds of customers, though data and texts are unaffected.

More than 500 people have reported the issue late on Tuesday afternoon (Feb 15) and customers have also complained on Twitter.

One said: "is your network down? Can't make or receive any calls!"

Another asked: "why are none of my calls coming or going out? Is the network down?"

Three is responding to customers, saying: "We're aware of a call issue affecting a small number of customers'. We're doing our best to fix this as soon as we can.

"We're sorry for any hassle this might be causing you."

Three, which has around 10million customers in the UK, said that it doesn't have a timescale but is working on getting it fixed "as soon as we can".

A spokesperson for Three said: “Three is currently experiencing technical difficulties with calls.

"Texts and data are unaffected. Our engineers are working on the issue now to fix the problem as soon as possible.

"We apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

You can check if the service is running ok or not using the Three Mobile service update website and entering your postcode.

According to Downdetector which monitors outages, the issue appears not to be limited to one location.

Using a London postcode on the status checker, we were met with a message that said: "We’re fixing an issue with our network in this area.

"We’re sorry for any disruption you experience. Our engineers are working on masts nearby, which means the rest of our network is handling more traffic than usual.

"Updates on our work will be posted here. We’re working as fast as we can to build a better, stronger network in your area."

The status was updated at 4.45pm and we've contacted Three for comment and will update when we hear back.

Can I get compensation if a mobile network goes down?

If you're suffering issues with your internet, call or mobile services then you may be entitled to compensation.

Internet firms usually pay out £8 for each say that broadband and phone service is not repaired after two full days of no service.

This is usually automatic but the regulator Ofcom has said firms don't have to pay compensation at the moment due the coronavirus outbreak.

If you're a mobile customer and you suffer from a lack of service then depending on the circumstance you may be entitled to a refund or account credit.

If you're without service for a sustained period of time then you may have the right to leave without incurring a fee.

If you still want to complain to Three Mobile about an issue, you can contact the firm via phone, online or pop by a branch.

You can also speak to Three Mobile via its live chat service on the app.

If your problem is still unresolved after eight weeks, you can complain to an independent Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme.
