Victoria Beckham reveals her go-to £170 ‘dinner perfume’ – and we’ve got the perfect £30 dupe

It’s official – Victoria Beckham is back at the top of our beauty inspiration list following her appearance in Netflix’s Beckham documentary, and with her very own series rumoured to be in the works, it seems the former Spice Girl’s covetable style is going to stay on our radar for some time.

Although we can easily emulate her makeup and fashion choices, one thing that’s harder to replicate is her perfume – until now, that is.

Victoria shared avideo on her TikTokon Friday where she revealed which perfume she loves wearing at the moment, and it turns out it’s one of her very own fragrances.

Victoria recently launched her fragrance collection as part of her Victoria Beckham Beauty line, which include three genderless scents inspired by different eras of her life, all of which can be purchased in the Fragrance Discovery Set, £30 here.

The three perfumes include San Ysidro Drive, £170 here, which is a rose and saffron mix inspired by her time in California, whilst Suite 302, £170 here, a masculine black leather and tobacco blend, is named after the suite she shared with David when he whisked her off to Paris for a special honeymoon after renewing their vows.

Finally, there's Portofino ‘97, £170 here, named after her first romantic getaway with David, which has notes of amber and patchouli.

In her TikTok video, Victoria said: “I love how there are three to choose from, depending on who I’m with, where I’m going and what kind of mood I’m in. Tonight I am going for San Ysidro Drive. Now, what I love about this fragrance is that I do love a rose, but I can find sometimes that rose fragrances can be a bit too sweet and a bit too feminine.

“So what I love about San Ysidro Drive is that it is a saffron mixed with a rose, with a woody undertone, which makes it a little bit more masculine. And I love it. I really do. It’s feeling like my mood tonight.”

Fans flooded the comments saying how much they liked the smell of the perfume, although plenty also admitted that the £170 price tag for a 50ml bottle was well out of their price range.

Thankfully, if you’re not quite in the position to splurge on a bottle of San Ysidro Drive, £170 here, we’ve tracked down a fragrance that has plenty of the same notes and comes with a much for affordable price tag.

VB’s fragrance has top notes of pink saffron, passion fruit, and coffee beans absolute, heart notes of frankincense, centifolia rose absolute, and pink peony, and base notes of agarwood, crisp amber, and vanilla beans absolute.

For a more affordable alternative, Shaghaf Oud, £30.45 here, has a similar blend of fragrances, with a top note of saffron, middle notes of rose oud, and base notes of vanilla, oud and praline.

The perfume has rave reviews from shoppers, who have praised how long lasting it is, with one saying: “This is a warm musky scent with the strength that oud fragrances carry. It isn't overpowering as I find some ouds yet has a subtle masculine undertone which compliments feminine layers. After 3/4hrs the scent fades to a light breeze that’s still detectable. On fabric the scent retains its strength and is noticeable a few days later.”

Dior’s Oud Rosewood, £125 here, also has a similar feminine and masculine blend of rose and sandalwood that makes it perfect for evening dinners, just like VB’s.

Woody floral perfumes are perfect for autumn and winter, now all you have to do is decide which one to buy.
