Relationship History?
I’m a sociable person but I’ve never been lucky in love. My longest relationship lasted 12 months, when I was 18.
Since then, I’ve had brief relationships between three and six months long.
When I click with someone online, it’s as though they’re always halfway out the door as they might meet someone ‘better’. I had a short relationship with someone I cared for during the pandemic, but it didn’t work out.
Pre-Date Nerves?
I was a jumble of nerves. I just see dating as this immense pressure cooker rather than as a fun experience. I’ve had a mild stammer since childhood and while I’m always open about this with dates, I can get nervous. I wore my favourite dress to feel good.
First Impressions?
Adam was waiting at the table and stood up to give me a big, warm hug. Instantly, I knew I would feel comfortable. He was wearing a blue shirt and smart trousers, and I liked that he’d made an effort.
He isn’t my normal type, but he has a great aura about him, with lovely eyes.
Easy To Talk To?
He works with children and I could tell he’s considerate and good at making conversation. He didn’t seem nervous and I admire that a lot.
Embarrassing Moments?
We both ordered steaks but he smothered his with ketchup. I almost have a ketchup phobia and struggled to watch him slather it on a steak.
Did Sparks Fly?
We had a wonderful rapport and ease, but I don’t think there were any romantic sparks. He was such a gentleman — if he was flirting it wasn’t obvious. He gave me a hug goodbye and suggested a coffee after Christmas.
Would you like to meet again?
I would meet him as a pal. But I don’t have his level of confidence in myself yet. I think he deserves someone who does.
What do you think he thought of you?
I hope he’d agree that there was a lot of mutual respect. I think he will make someone a lovely partner.
Would your family and friends like him?
They’d love him as he’s easy to like and get on with.
Single for a year.
CURRENT ROLE
Teacher.
WOULD LIKE TO MEET
I was an international swimmer, so I’d like her to support my hobby.
Adam’s Verdict: 9/10
LIKED? She’s down to earth and a very pretty girl.
REGRETS? None.
COFFEE OR CAB? Coffee.
Adam
Relationship History?
I’ve had previous girlfriends but we just weren’t moving in the same direction. It’s all about timing. I want children someday and am looking for someone to settle down with.
Pre-Date Nerves?
I’m always a bit nervous as you never know what to expect, and I’ve never been on a blind date.
First Impressions?
When Hadley walked in, I had a really big smile on my face as it was lovely to meet her. Blue is my favourite colour so I loved her dress, but it was her smile that stood out straight away. I always look for that, and warm eyes, which she had, too.
Easy To Talk To?
We clicked immediately. We chatted about where we had travelled to, and discovered that there are so many places we both love, such as South Korea. She’d been there on holiday and I was there for a sporting competition. Swimming is a big part of my life and she showed a real interest.
I felt we were on the same wavelength in terms of our stages of life and our ambitions. We talked and laughed — it was utterly relaxed.
Embarrassing Moments?
AS WELL as laughing that neither of us really knew how to order wine, when we ordered we were told that nothing we wanted to eat was left on the menu. It could have been an embarrassing moment on a first date, but we laughed it off.
Did Sparks Fly?
I’d say they did — we had a really good connection. It’s hard to know if I was coming across as flirty because it was a very chatty event and had that first-date vibe, but we both said we’d go for a coffee after Christmas, once we’re less busy. I thought it was a great date so who knows?
Would you like to meet again?
Definitely, I’d love to meet up for a drink and see what happens.
What do you think she thought of you?
From what I gathered I think she really liked my personality, and she didn’t run away so I guess that was a good sign. The date wasn’t rushed and we got on well.
Would your family and friends like her?
We didn’t talk too much about friends and family, but she’d certainly get on with my circle.
