Wife of US diplomat suspected of ‘killing Brit teen before fleeing to America’

The angry parents of a teenager killed by the wife of a US diplomat who has subsequently claimed diplomatic immunity say they cannot yet grieve for their son.

Harry Dunn was struck close to RAF Croughton, an American spy base in Northamptonshire, back in August.

The 19-year-old was riding his motorbike when an unnamed woman "pulled out of the base onto the wrong side of the road" and hit him head-on, Sky News reported.

He was rushed to hospital and died from his injuries soon after.

But the suspect has not returned to the UK, claiming diplomatic immunity.

Diplomatic immunity means envoys cannot be sued or prosecuted in their host countries.

The victim's father Tim Dunn said: "We're disgusted, appalled – how she could be having this cloak wrapped around her?

"I'm angry that someone could do this and then get on a plane and go. I can't believe she's living with herself.

"We can't quite understand this is actually happening, or has been allowed to happen."

A Facebook group called Justice4Harry has been created by friends of the Northampton Town fan.

Harry's mother Charlotte Charles told Sky News : "Everyone loved him, we're utterly broken inside and out. Everything hurts day and night, it's an effort to do anything,

"I ache from it, every limb, every internal organ hurts.

"We don't know how we can start to grieve for him. We have nothing. No justice. We have nothing to put our minds at rest that she's even remorseful."

In a statement, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said: "I wish to offer my condolences to the family affected by this tragic incident.

"I have called the US Ambassador to express the UK's disappointment with their decision, and to urge the Embassy to re-consider it."
