A woman has told of her shock after discovering her younger sister announced she was engaged to the ‘nasty’ and ‘selfish’ stepbrother who she still ‘resents’ for bullying her as a teen.
The anonymous woman, believed to be from the US, who was 23, revealed she and her sister, 21, grew up with the stepbrother, 25, when their parents got together – adding that he ‘bullied me especially because how how weak and thing I was.’
She went on to explain how he would bully her at home and high-school and even got her friends to turn against her by ‘spreading rumours and lies.’
Taking to Reddit, she told how her sister, who she remained close with up until recently when she left for college, revealed she was engaged to their stepbrother, who she had been secretly dating, at her 21st birthday – and is furious her family don’t support her decision.
In response to the post, which was deleted from Reddit before being re-shared on the Canadian That’s It, I’m Wedding Shaming Facebook group, many admitted they felt uneasy that the newly engaged couple had grown together and were now getting married – despite not being blood related.

Describing her ‘uncomfortable’ relationship with the stepbrother growing up, the anonymous woman penned: ‘Our step-brother was nasty, selfish and used to take my things and ruin them under the guise of borrowing. He bullied me especially cause of how weak and thin I was.’
She went on to explain how after leaving home for college, she cut all contact with her stepbrother, but still talked to her sister until they slowly started growing apart.
‘Normally, my sister would tell me secret but no longer does and I figured it’s because of distance and being busy with college,’ she wrote.
The woman then revealed how the bombshell was dropped when her younger sister stated giving a speech at her own birthday bash.

‘She talked about mom’s death, stepmom’s presence in our life and the situations we’d gone through,’ she recalled. ‘Then she asked my stepbrother to join her and he stood next to her and held her hand as she lifted her other hand saying she and my step-brother just got engaged.’
While the woman admitted she was left ‘dumfounded absolutely shocked,’ she added she wasn’t alone – with the whole family stunned by the news and opposed to the union, with the step-mother being particularly vocal against it.
‘My sister defended herself, saying they were never siblings and they needed to stop yelling but step mom didn’t stop,’ the older sister wrote.
Deciding it best to calmly leave the situation without saying anything, she later received a call from her younger sister.
‘My sister called crying asking where I went and why I left when she needed my support and protection from “that” woman,’ she wrote. ‘I firmly told her it was none of my business and she needed to figure her own mess out.’
‘I told her I’d never think of getting together with my sister’s bully who’s her stepbrother.’
The younger sister went on to brand her sibling ‘judgmental,’ but many social media users took to the forum to side with the older sister, with many saying the fact two step-siblings are engaged is ‘gross’ (pictured)

‘I don’t care if y’all aren’t blood related…. they grew up together and were kids together in a family household. He’s 4 years older and they got together when she was 21? This is GROSS,’ wrote one.
A second asked: ‘My biggest question is how old were they when the step brother came into the picture and how long has their relationship gone on,’ while a third added: ‘This is why you shouldn’t get married at 21.’
Meanwhile, a fourth added: ‘This is so weird to me. If they were raised together as a family unit since childhood this is absolutely gross and everyone’s reaction is justified.’
A further commented: ‘The response of the stepmom and dad are on point. My head would probably split open if these were my children/stepchildren. This is weird af ew. They aren’t blood related but they grew up as brother and sisters. Yuuuck.’
