More Covid restrictions introduced in France – just days after lifting UK travel ban

MORE Covid restrictions have been introduced in France – just days after the UK travel ban was lifted.

Masks are now compulsory in some outdoor settings in Paris due to a new rule which was passed by police.

Face masks are already mandatory in all public indoor venues in France, including on public transport and in shopping centres.

But rules are now being extended to include specified outdoor spaces – so Brits with holiday plans need to be up-to-date with mask requirements.

Masks must now be worn at all gatherings, marches or organised activities of more than 10 people held in a public space, as well as entrances to shopping centres.

They are also required in outdoor markets, in any queues in public outdoor areas and in waiting areas for public transport.

The new rules will also be adopted in the Paris suburbs, according to French media outlet The Local.

The face mask rule follows an earlier order for compulsory mask-wearing which was in place in France from New Year's Eve.

However, last week courts judged the rule as 'excessive' and suspended it.

Despite that, Paris police chief Didier Lallement has published new orders to make mask-wearing compulsory again.

France only lifted its UK travel ban on January 14, which had been a place for nearly a month.

Vaccinated Brits can travel to the country, but will still need a negative test taken within 24 hours of arriving in France – which can be a lateral flow or PCR test.

Unvaccinated Brits will need a compelling reason to enter the country and have to quarantine for 10 days.

We've rounded up the entry requirements for popular holiday destinations – but you won't be able to visit these 38 countries as Brits are banned from entering due to Covid rules.
