SEASIDE resorts in Wales, Somerset and Yorkshire are some of the most popular holiday destinations being booked this year.
Nearly 20 million Brits are to staycation in the UK this summer after foreign holiday plans have been scuppered by travel bans.
Spain was removed from the safe list by the UK government last week at short notice, affecting thousands of booked and future holidays.
This led to nervous tourists cancelling their holidays to other destinations such as France and Italy in anticipation of similar bans.
Instead, a British holiday is on the cards for the summer as families stay closer to home this year.
According to a YouGov poll, 28 per cent of Brits plan to take a UK holiday this year, which works out to around 19 million people, while just nine per cent are planning on going abroad.
With temperatures rising again this weekend, after the country faced the hottest day of the year last week up to 37C, seaside resorts are expecting another influx of tourists.
Airbnb have revealed the top trending seaside destinations which are being booked by families this year.
Colwyn Bay in Wales came out as the number one location, followed by Bridlington in Yorkshire and Minehead in Somerset.
Well known resorts including Bognor Regis and Tenby also featured on the list.
The destinations are a surprise compared to the often popular Cornwall and Devon which have seen busy beaches and crowded towns in recent weeks.
