The best reusable alternatives to single-use liquids bags at the airport

We’re trying to cut back plastic in lots of ways but in some cases, it’s impossible to avoid.

When you head through airport security, you need to put all your liquids in a plastic bag and even if you reuse the same one a few times, they don’t last long.

The government is now asking airports to find some more eco-friendly solutions.

A spokesperson for the Department for Transport said: ‘This government is determined to cut single-use plastic and the use of eco-friendly plastic bags at airports would be a welcome step in the right direction.

‘We would encourage airlines and airports to do their bit.’

But the rules around the bags are strict so you must use one that is the correct size.

To help, we’ve put together some options for bags you can use over and over again.

You can fill it with all your liquids before heading to the airport to make the process of going through security even smoother.

And when you’re holiday is over, just pack it away with your suitcase for your next trip.

The idea is that inside there are pockets, spaces for your toothbrush and then a plastic bag that is TSA approved (meaning it complies to the rules for liquids bags).

It is attached using magnets so you can keep all your toiletries together, before unclipping the plastic bag in the airport.

It comes in three colours. The lining is made from 100% recycled plastic and the outside of the bag is a vegan-friendly material.
