Danielle Lloyd addresses backlash over baby girl joy: ‘Everyone has a preference’

As she waits to give birth to her longed for baby daughter, Danielle Lloyd is feeling positive and excited.

But the star – who is already mum to four boys, Archie, Harry, George and Ronnie – admits that not everyone has been totally supportive of her baby plans.

Danielle, who made her name as a model before becoming a TV personality, revealed at her baby shower that she had been targeted by trolls because she admitted that she with four sons, she’d love to have a daughter.

Speaking exclusively to OK! at the beautiful bash, the 37 year old admitted: “I did get some backlash from admitting that I wanted a daughter this time.

“I think everyone has a preference,” Danielle told OK! “Obviously I’ve got four boys so I did desperately want a little girl.”

And Danielle isn’t afraid to admit that while she was lucky in finally getting her daughter naturally, she wouldn’t have ruled out involving science, had the pandemic hadn’t changed her plans.

“We didn’t go down the gender selection route but I would have done so if Covid didn’t happen,” she admitted.

The baby will be her second child with husband Michael O’Neill, an electrician, who she wed in 2019 following her divorce from footballer Jamie O’Hara, the father of her three eldest sons.

"I'm just ready to pop now and I am so excited to meet my little girl," smiled the star at her baby shower, surrounded by family and friends.

And not surprisingly, the baby's four big brothers are also eager to meet their sister when she arrives.

"The boys are so super excited about meeting their little sister, they just all can’t wait now," said Danielle. "Not long to go!"

She clearly thinks that her brood will definitely be looking out for their new sibling, once she's out and about in the world.

"I don’t think our little girl is going to be able to move with four older brothers she’s going to be well protected."

As she enters the final weeks of her pregnancy, Danielle has been busy trying to pick a name for her daughter.

The star was left saddened though, when Stacey Solomon called her and Joe Swash's new arrival Rose – the name Danielle had set her heart on. But the expectant mum revealed that the favoured moniker will still feature somewhere in the name.

"We’ve definitely got a shortlist of names," she said. "Michael definitely wants to have Rose in there somewhere because it’s so meaningful to him. So yeah, I think we are just going to decide when she arrives."

And it sounds like the pair need to choose their names wisely. As Danielle vows there won't be another opportunity to name a daughter.

“The family is 100% complete and I am definitely not having any more children!” she said.
