Eamonn Holmes is to make a major announcement on This Morning today.

The TV presenter is hosting the show today, Wednesday 7 April, alongside his wife Ruth Langsford and told fans that he will be announcing big news at 11am.

Before the show aired, he shared a picture of himself with his finger on his lips on Instagram.

In the caption, Eamonn wrote: “Ssshhh … need to tell you something but not until 11 o'clock live on This Morning when I will make an announcement.

"For a lot of us ,myself included, recent times have been tough but I have news that I know will make the future brighter.”

While many fans expressed their excitement over the news, others speculated that he could be set to replace Piers Morgan as host on Good Morning Britain.

One person wrote: “Good morning Britain new presenter to replace piers?!”

Another said: “Good Morning Britain Piers Morgan replacement?”


Others speculated: “Please tell me your the new host on GMB” and: “You’re gonna be the anchor on GMB.”

A fifth fan penned: "I would love this @eamonnholmes You and @charlottehawkins1 back together on morning TV."

It comes after Eamonn opened up about the chronic pain he is experiencing and documented a recent hospital visit.

The 61 year old was admitted to hospital on 1 April after getting "pain like I've never experienced in my life" and while he's since returned to work on This Morning, doctors have been trying to help him through the horrific agony he's been.

Eamonn has opened up on how he's been coping with his chronic pain, which has left him unable to sleep.

The ITV presenter has detailed how he's been recovering from his ailments, as he told his one million Twitter followers: "Physio just left after 2nd session of the day . [sic]

"He said my body was hot … result being that I Needed to cool off with my 2nd Cold [cold face emoji] Shower of the day….." [sic]

The TV presenter, who recently said he feels "progress is happening" through his daily rehabilitation methods, added: "Let's hope it helps me sleep soundly Zzzzź". [sic]
