Gemma Atkinson has never shied away from being open and honest about the challenges of motherhood and this week was no different.

Since giving birth to her daughter Mia back in July 2019, who she had with Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez, Gemma has always reached out to her followers for advice when she’s struggling.

In an adorable post of Mia, she recently appealed to her followers for some “parent advice.”

“It makes me sad that Mia has missed out on so much interaction with other children this year,” she pondered.

The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many nurseries being closed and strict measures on isolation mean all of us, including babies and toddlers, have been cut off from people socially in a way that’s not really been seen before.

Worried about the impact this has had on Mia, Gemma went on to say that “before lock down she had three baby group classes and she loved it!”

The radio presenter went on to explain how Mia “stops and points” at other children when they’re out and about then “smiles and natters away.”

Scared that Mia’s social butterfly wings have been clipped, Gemma revealed that she’s “thinking of enrolling her at a nursery 2 mornings a week next year.”

However, this decision is clearly one that’s got the 35-year-old in all kinds of knots. “I’m extremely lucky I’m able to have my mornings with her so the mum guilt will be stupidly high,” she confessed.

Gemma went on to say that although she’s not taking her because it’s needed for “practical reasons” she feels that “it’s very much needed” to benefit her in other ways.

Appealing to her fans, the mum-of-one asked: “Is it too young to be leaving her when she loves her mornings home with me?! I don’t know what to do.”

Gemma’s fans were as supportive as can be and inundated the comments section with love and advice.

One said: “Go for it. Mia will benefit from it all the way, interaction is so important. But it also gives you a little bit of time for YOU XX.”

While another posted: “Nursery brings them on leaps and bounds and definitely prepares them for school.”

Even Gorka, who is currently storming the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom with Maisie Smith, chimed in to admire Mia. “My gorgeous princess, she is getting so big!!!” And it looks like Gemma has taken her followers advice after updating them on her story that she’s “booked a few to visit.”
