Helen Skelton ‘sought revenge’ against ex Richie by selling wedding gifts on TV

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has "sought revenge" against ex-husband Richie Myler, according to reports, after selling a number of the couple's wedding gifts during an appearance on Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House.

The former Blue Peter presenter, 39, announced her split from husband Richie, 32, in April after eight years together, and only four months after the birth of their third child.

Since the split, the rugby player has been quick to move on, and is now expecting his first child with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill.

Now, while appearing on Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House, Helen has said she wants to signal a "new start" in her life, as she sells a number of sentimental items and wedding gifts.

A source told The Sun: "Helen needed a huge sort out after the break-up and despite some of the items possessing many memories, she felt it was best she sold them on."

The items sold on include an antique vaulting horse, which was one of the former couple's wedding gifts, Victorian dentist chair and two Art Deco armchairs.

On the show, Helen says: "This is a great opportunity to get rid of a load of stuff.”

The Countryfile presenter revealed that she plans to turn her Leeds home into two separate houses, one of which she will live in while selling off the other.

It comes after she broke down in tears on Saturday night's episode of Strictly as she candidly reflected about her journey on the hit BBC One dance show so far.

Speaking in a VT ahead of her live Samba to Eso Beso by Emma Bunton with pro partner Gorka Márquez, Helen discussed her time on Strictly so far, saying she's a "different person."

Talking about their highest score of the series during Blackpool last week, Helen said: "The reaction was one of those moments I will never forget.

"The best reaction was from my dad, he was so happy and so proud. He just looked at me and said: 'You seem like you again!'"

Talking to Gorka, Helen said: "I definitely am a different person from when we started and I think for me what has been" to which she broke down in tears and struggled to get her words out.

Helen added: "Sorry, I'm really sorry" to which Gorka hugged the emotional star.

She continued: "I think even you would say I'm a different person from day one, right?", adding: "I thought it was just dancing, it is so much more than that."
