Jesy Nelson has candidly opened up on how trolling has “taken the innocence” from her and other Little Mix members.

The 29 year old made the heartbreaking comments shortly before it was announced she would not be taking part in the live final of Little Mix: The Search or appear alongside her band at the MTV EMAs after falling ill.

Jesy made the revelation in an interview with Daily Mail’s You magazine as her bandmate Perrie Edwards said being in the group had changed their lives.

Perrie, 27, explained: “Little Mix has changed our lives for the better, and our families’ lives, and we have achieved so much”.

Jesy then added: “Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to sit here and say we’ve got a terrible life, because we haven’t, but I do think our innocence was taken from us.”

Earlier in the interview, Jesy revealed the trolling and cruel abuse she’d received online had put her off having children someday.

She said: “Before we got in the group, I never looked at myself and thought, ‘I don’t like that’ – I don’t think any of us did.

“I never thought, ‘Oh god, I’m fat’, and then we got in the industry, and we all started wanting to change things about ourselves.

“It’s so sad. There are things [in the past] I definitely wish I hadn’t done. But would I be the person I am today if I hadn’t gone through all of that?”

And, when her fellow bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock added how online abuse made her fear for her future daughters, Jesy confessed: “It makes me not want to have a kid.

The singer added: “Those insecurities that we all have now because of social media, imagine having that embedded in you as a child?”

It comes after it was announced Jesy has pulled out of her appearance on Little Mix: The Search final and the MTV EMAs, which the band were hosting and performing on.

A statement shared by the band’s representative read: “Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of Little Mix The Search.

“She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMA’s.”
