A musical from iconic British electro-pop duo Pet Shop Boys about Billie Trix will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
The musical titled Musik, featuring four new songs from the band, will run from August 5 to 24.
The 50-minute, one-woman show starring Frances Barber will be played at Assembly Rooms’ Bijou venue on George Street.
The 62 year-old English actress will be reprising her role as Billie Trix from the 2001 musical, Closer to Heaven.
Pet Shop Boys said in a statement that they are thrilled that this show is finally happening.
“When we wrote Closer to Heaven almost 20 years ago, we loved the compelling outrageousness of the character Billie Trix as written by Jonathan and performed by Frances Barber,” said Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe.
The duo added, “We have all discussed for many years the idea of creating her own one-woman show which would give us the chance to write more songs for her as she looks back on her incredible career.”
