Ruby Rose Was Nearly Paralyzed, Shares Video of Spinal Surgery

Thankfully, it looks like she’s going to be just fine.

Ruby Rose has revealed she recently underwent surgery to treat a chronic back issue that could have left her paralyzed.

"I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord," the star wrote alongside an Instagram video of her surgery late Thursday night. "I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms."

To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed… I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms… Thank you Dr Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt. And to anyone asking why I let them video it.. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.

In true Ruby Rose fashion, she managed to make a wisecrack or two about her insistence on recording the procedure.

"And to anyone asking why I let them video it.. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under," she explained.

Rose also took time to thank her surgeon: "Thank you Dr Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt."

The Australian-born performer made her acting debut in 2008 with a minor role in Sarah Spillane’s "Around the Block", and achieved worldwide fame with her role as Stella Carlin in "Orange Is The New Black". Since then, her acting career has been taken to new heights with roles in stunt-heavy movies like "John Wick 2" and "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter".

She will next star as the titular character in TV series "Batwoman", premiering October 6 on The CW.

We hope you’re healing up well, Ruby!
