The real reason Stacey Dash is separating from her husband

Clueless star Stacey Dash took to Instagram on April 30, 2020, to share that she and her husband of two years, attorney Jeffrey Marty, have decided to part ways. “My husband and I have made the hard decision of ending our marriage,” Dash wrote. “After much prayer, I feel this is the right path for both of us. I wish him nothing but the best. Thank you everyone for your support and respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”

Marty hasn’t addressed the incident publicly, but he did share a seemingly cryptic message on Twitter after the news broke. “God has a plan,” he penned.

Dash and Marty met in April 2018 and married 10 days later, per the Daily Mail. The attorney shares three kids with his ex-wife, BuzzFeed News reported, while Dash entered the marriage with two children from previous relationships.

So what went wrong in Dash’s fourth marriage? We explore the exes’ breakup below.

Stacey Dash and Jeffrey Marty's split is "mutual"

Before getting hitched to Jeffrey Marty, Stacey Dash was married three times, with her last divorce being finalized in September 2011. Now it appears Dash will go through this process again, and now some fans are wondering what led to her latest breakup. “It is a mutual and amicable split,” the actor’s rep told Entertainment Tonight. “It was a hard decision that both of them decided to make.”

However, there did appear to be cracks in the marriage before the separation announcement, as Dash was arrested in September 2019 on a domestic battery charge for allegedly “pushing and slapping” Marty after “verbal argument,” according to NBC News. The Mo’ Money star pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the case was dropped in October 2019.

“She was arrested over my objection at the time, but due to the pending investigation, I waited to comment until now,” the attorney reportedly tweeted about the situation (via NBC News). “We both look forward to getting this behind us.”

Seven months after Marty’s tweet, the two called it quits.
