BBC Radio presenter confirmed as tenth Dancing On Ice 2024 contestant

Adele Roberts is the latest star to join the Dancing On Ice cast, and is set to make history on the series.

The BBC Radio 1 host is proud to be making show history as the first contestant with a stoma bag.

The 44-year-old joked that she hoped that the bag, which she calls Audrey, will behave.

Audrey is a diva. She is very excited to see you today, so she’s already been problematic.

‘I’ve not seen her on ice yet, but we’re going to find out,’ she quipped.

‘All I want to say, Audrey, is, I only want to dance on the ice, I don’t want to be doing anything else on the ice. So stay inside please.’

While speaking about her inclusion on Lorraine, she said: ‘It’s ‘bricking it on ice’ for me!

‘I think the hardest part is putting myself out there as I usually hide away. I did radio as it’s not visual. That’s going to be a big challenge.

Adele, who was diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer in October 2021 before getting the all-clear in June 2022, said: ‘After cancer I have my life back; I actually can’t wait for the glam!’

She continued: ‘Two years ago today I’d just been diagnosed with bowel cancer. I didn’t know what stage cancer I had at the time. I didn’t know if I was going to live or die.

‘To think, two years on I’m sat here with you [Lorraine Kelly] talking about Dancing on Ice – it’s the greatest feeling in the world.’

She also revealed that she didn’t know whether she would be partnered with a man or woman.

One thing’s for sure – she has the full support of partner Kate Holderness, who is excited to see her on the ice.

Although, she may want to close her eyes during the famous headbanger which Adele is ‘totally up for’.

The move involves being held by the ankles and swung around.

So who will be joining Adele on the ice? Here are the confirmed contestants so far…

Ricky Norwood

EastEnders icon Ricky Norwood was announced as the ninth contestant confirmed for Dancing On Ice.

Appearing on Wednesday’s Loose Women, the 40-year-old said: ‘I’m very excited! Very scared, but very excited! It’s come at a great time in life.’

He added: ‘Being on the ice! I’m apprehensive about the lifts, especially the headbanger.

‘I’ve got to trust in the process, trust in the training, trust in the trainers.’

The Fatboy actor thrilled fans when he made a shock return from the dead in the soap earlier this year.

The reprisal coincided with Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) storyline, when a flashback sequence to 2014 saw Fatboy interrupt Cindy in a car.

Lou Sanders

Comedian Lou Sanders was revealed to be the eighth celebrity taking part.

Sharing the news with Nihal Arthanayake on Radio 5 Live, the 37-year-old said: ‘I’m nervous about cracking my head open, or just bashing the old head.

‘I can’t afford to lose any more brain cells. I’m also worried about my partner picking me up, he’s going to have to be very strong and very brave.’

Lou has appeared on a variety of TV shows, including Taskmaster, Travel Man and Would I Lie to You?, but this will be her first major stint on a reality show.

Stephen Lustig-Webb

Stephen Lustig-Webb is no stranger to our screens having been a much beloved Gogglebox star until he quit the Channel 4 show after a decade.

Revealing the news on ITV’s Lorraine, the TV icon said: ‘The last time I was on the ice I think I was 14, so almost 40 years ago.

‘I have been back on the ice since just for a quick spin around, I didn’t fall over so that was a good thing. I’ve got a new appreciation for skating.

‘I can see how truly difficult it is. From the comfort of my sofa I was probably a little too judgy, I didn’t realise how hard it is.’

Miles Nazaire

Miles Nazaire is looking to shake things up after five years on Made In Chelsea, swapping the E4 show for ITV.

‘I’ve always loved to dance but it’s usually on a dance floor on a Saturday night, and Dancing on Ice looks so difficult,’ he shared when he was revealed to have joined the cast.

‘I keep thinking about how I’m going to need to have rhythm while balancing on a thin blade and that’s when I feel the nerves kick in, but this is such an unbelievable opportunity to get totally out of my comfort zone.’

Luckily, Miles has the support of his MIC cast with the likes of co-star Emily Blackwell expressing her excitement over his involvement in the show.

Greg Rutherford

Former Strictly Come Dancing star and Olympic track and field athlete Greg Rutherford has decided DOI is his next challenge.

Speaking on GMB, Greg, 36, expressed his excitement over taking part, admitting that he’s going for the win and sharing that he wants to achieve daring stunts on the ice with his professional partner.

‘My kids love dancing around so hopefully they are going to enjoy watching me dance with blades on my feet!’ he told Susanna and Ed.

‘I think this is going to be a really different experience but one that will be quite exciting. I like a challenge and I needed a reason to go out and do stuff again and here we are.

‘I want to perform something that’s never been done before, that’s my aim. I’ll go 100,000% on this. I’ll try hard, I’m in no way expecting to be good but I will work as hard as I can.’

Amber Davies

Love Island’s Amber Davies, who won the ITV reality show back in 2017 and has gone on to forge an impressive career on the West End, was unveiled as the fourth celebrity taking part in the skating competition.

She revealed the news on an episode of Lorraine, and admitted it finally ‘feels real’.

‘It’s out there now,’ she said. ‘I’ve been in this Dancing On Ice bubbled and today it feels real. No, I can’t go back!’

The 26-year-old said she was looking forward to working with ‘an amazing pro’ – who she’s not had the chance to meet yet – and is determined not to let ‘the adrenaline’ get the better of her.

Hannah Spearritt

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt will be hoping to Reach For The Stars as one of the celebrities confirmed for Dancing On Ice.

The actress and singer, who was a founding member of the 1990s pop group with hits including Don’t Stop Movin’, Bring It All Back, and Never Had A Dream Come True, shared the news on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The 42-year-old said: ‘I’m really excited about learning a new skill. It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.

‘Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.’

Claire Sweeney

Claire Sweeney has already joined one huge show this year – Coronation Street – but is carving out time for another.

The 52-year-old, who has also appeared in Brookside and Doctors, shared the news on ITV’s This Morning.

She said: ‘I’m really looking forward to going to an ice rink with my son and actually being able to skate and not have to use the penguins they give you to help you stay upright!”

Claire added: ‘I’ve had to wear my boots around the house… I haven’t stepped on the ice yet.’

Ricky Hatton

Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton was announced as the very first contestant in the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice.

The 44-year-old, who officially retired from boxing in November 2012 before returning to the ring for an exhibition match last year, was unveiled as a participant during Tuesday’s episode of This Morning.

When asked how he thinks he’ll do in the competition, he said: ‘If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink. I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy! When I retired I had nothing to do.’

Ricky admitted he isn’t ‘much of a skater or a dancer’ but believes his boxing past will serve as an advantage.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV and ITVX in 2024.
