Balenciaga is selling stilettos that look like white sports socks for a whopping £1,200.
The Paris-based brand, loved by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Nicole Kidman, is known for its innovative ‘sock boot’ design.
While the black boots have become a celebrity favourite, the new shoe bares a striking resemblance to £7.99 pair of socks from Sports Direct.
The polyamide material the stilettos are crafted from is the same material used to make socks – and doesn’t have the Balenciaga branding.
The high heels also have a ribbed knit effect just like casual, sport hosiery and are available in sizes three to eight.

A pack of three similar looking white socks cost just £7.99 at budget sports retailer Sports Direct.
As for the designer pair, there are no Balenciaga logos or branding on the plain white sock shoes.
Balenciaga describes their shoe as a ‘rib knit bootie’ with a ‘five finger shape at toe, ‘stiletto heel and a black sole’.
Customers are instructed to wipe the shoe, which are made from 90 per cent polyamide and 10 per cent elastane, with a soft cloth.
This comes after Balenciaga was blasted last month for selling plain-looking Wellington boots for £875.
Its ‘Men’s Excavator boot in black’ was compared to Dunlop’s much cheaper ‘Universal Wellington’ which retails for £19.99.
However the Balenciaga wellingtons cost £846.01 more than the basic Dunlop’s version.
Shoppers have poked fun at the controversial French fashion house once again for their autumn footwear.

Many pointed out that the unusual design appears baggy at the top due to their ‘oversize design.’
The luxury fashion house is popular with A-listers like Kim Kardashian and Manchester City star Jack Grealish.
But it faced a backlash last November by bondage bears featured in an ad campaign with kids.
The brand apologised for a photoshoot with a child holding a teddy bear dressed in a BDSM outfit that outraged hundreds of people online.
